Eco Safari
The concept of safari has evolved over in the years. Today, the new way to live an unique experience in the nature is called eco-safari. The eco-safari, in line with the trends of ecotourism is defined by respect and concern for the environment in all its aspects: on one side the environment of the places visited and on the other side the culture and the well-being of the people who lives. This is not a simply visit to an area, but living an area, getting interested in their daily problems, discovering the artistic and cultural heritage. With eco-safari you are careful not to become an distractive element to the environment imbalances that always aim to escalate our planet. Choosing sustainable approach involving local people, working together, managing natural resources, taking care of the environment and respect for the land and culture of the area visited. The facilities used for tourist accommodation are small villages that combines the respect for the tradition and the environment with the comfort dedicated to tourists. The properties are built according to the local techniques using natural materials (clay, galana stone, jacaranda stone, wood, coconut hemp). Participate in local activities: tea harvesting, coffee harvesting, maize harvesting, cooking etc, living compatibly with the environment and the society of the place visited. Providing direct benefits and empowerment for local people at destinations without retrogression on environmental, cultural or local living standards. Helping local economic development, management and protection of natural resources with the assurance that the income is destinated directly to the needs of the local populations (schools, wells, roads, hospitals ...). The most beautiful way to return back home enriched, without at the same time having destroyed our holiday destination.
Day 1
Nairobi
The arrival in Nairobi is expected in the morning. After customs clearance, transfer a hotel in town. Nairobi is the largest city in East Africa, with more than 3 million inhabitants. It ‘s more modern than many other African capitals without at the same time loosing its typical way of an African capital, chaotic and full of contradictions. In the afternoon, a tour to the Masai market where you can purchase African beautiful batiks, soapstone items, wooden items etc.. (obviously negotiating prices) visit the slum area to see how the street children lives, you will also visit a school in the slum (Huruma area). Back for dinner and overnight in the hotel choosen.
Day 2
Nairobi / Samburu
Early breakfast, depart towards Samburu National Reserve. A semi-arid park with its gigantic acacia forest along the Ewaso Nyiro River. We stop for lunch on the way before proceeding with our safari. Arrival estimated in the early afternoon and start your game drive on the way towards your camping site for dinner and overnight.
Day 3
Samburu
After breakfast, all day dedicated in fotosafari with packed lunch to dedicate more time to enjoy this rugged and semi-desert reserve with big acacia trees, thorn tree, palm, marshes, bushy and rocky surface. The Ewaso Nyiro River that starts from the Aberdare mountains cuts through the park, encouraging the presence of many african animals with its abundance of water and green pasture. Enjoy your game drive in search of the rare habitat of the park like; long necked gerenuk antelope, Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, beisa onyx among other wild animals. A short visit to a local Samburu village before going back for dinner and overnight.
Day 4
Samburu / Lake Nakuru
Early morning wake-up, game drive on the way towards Lake Nakuru, considered home of flamingoes. A brief stop at Nyahururu, one of the white settlements remaining in Kenya and the highest town in Kenya ( 2360 m ). Here you will visit the Thomson waterfalls found just some few kms from town. The water that falls over 70 meters and the misty forest view caused by the water is very impressive. Lunch in a restaurant in town before proceeding to lake Nakuru. On arrival, start your game drive to view and enjoy the numerious pink flamingoes present in the lake, the black and white rhinos among other water loving animals. The final spectacle is at the viewpoint “Out of Africa” an unique place for its position to witness the splendid african sunset before getting back for dinner and overnight in a hotel in town.
Day 5
Lake Nakuru / Masai Mara Reserve
Early morning wake-up, game drive in Lake Nakuru before heading to Masai Mara National Reserve with packed lunch. Arrival estimated in late afternoon. Enjoy your game drive in this most famous park of Kenya while heading to the camping area for dinner and overnight.
Day 6
Masai Mara Reserve
Early breakfast, start your game drive. The right time to view predators still hunting. With a little bit of luck, you can assist a hunt. All day dedicated in game drive in this fantastic park where your game drive will be concentrated along the Mara River to witness the massive crossing of wildebeests; gnu, zebre and antilopes if present. Masai Mara is considered “Must See” for the safari lovers in Kenya. The park is blessed with a wide and unique variety of wildlife and birds. The best place to enjoy the Big Five among other animals present in the park; such as giraffes, gnus, oribis, hyenas, warthogs, zebras, gazelles, hartebeests, bat-eared foxes, rare topi antelope, rone antelope, hippos, crocodiles to mention but a few. Here you can have a Baloon safari, unique experience in Masai mara. A brief visit to a local Masai village before going back for dinner and overnight.
Day 7
Masai Mara Reserve / lake Naivasha
After breakfast, game drive on the way towards to Lake Naivasha. Here you will visit the Hell’s Gate National Park (well known as the gate to hell) This park is most interesting because it’s one of the only parks in Kenya where you can have a walking safari or a mountain bike safari. Here we will try the thrill on a walking safari or by bike. In the afternoon, we will have a glass bottom boat drive in lake Naivasha to admire its hippos. Dinner and overnight in the camping area.
Day 8
Lake Naivasha / Amboseli
After breakfast, game drive on the way towards Amboseli National Park with arrival estimated for lunch at Muteleu Masai Village (a typical Masai structure equipped with the necessary comfort, on the edge of Amboseli National Park). Lunch and relax. Afternoon dedicated in game drive in this plain of Amboseli till sunset. Back for dinner. After dinner, assist a local Masai dance and listen to their dailly life before overnight.
Day 9
Amboseli / Tsavo West
Early morning wake-up, game drive to admire the waking up of savanna and the Mount Kilimanjaro before proceeding towards Tsavo West National Park with picnic lunch. We will be stopping over for lunch at the natural pools of Lugard falls. The rest of the afternoon is dedicated in game drive in this park compost of flat area, dry plains with thorny bushes and swamps, marshland near the Galana River, the Yatta Plateau, several natural pools and dams which serves as watering holes for both animals and birds. Enjoy the wide variety of native animals of Kenya before heading for dinner and overnight at the Bandas (structure ex wardens now used for tourist ospitality)
Day 10
Tsavo West / Malindi
After breakfast, start your game drive, the right time to see active predators still hunting, a very emotional event. Tsavo West being an extention of Tsavo East, offers a wide variety of African savage. After lunch depart towards Malindi crossing coconut and mango plantations. Arrival estimated for dinner at Tishi’s Farm (a really typical african farm that combines the respect of the tradition and the comfort of the typical Giryama tribe constructed with local techniques and materials: clay, galana stone, jacaranda stone, wood and coconut fibre.
Day 11, 12 & 13
Malindi
Three days dedicated on relax and various excursions; shopping, safari blue, visits to local villages etc. All activities are done around this small town along the Indian Ocean, defined as the Saint Tropez of Africa.
Day 14
Malindi / Mombasa
After breakfast, transfer to Mombasa where you will have your connection either by air or by train to Nairobi for your international flight back home. (travelling by train from Mombasa to Nairobi is definitely typical).
Giorno 1
Nairobi
Arrivo all’aeroporto di Nairobi previsto in mattinata e immediato trasferimento in un albergo della capitale. Nairobi è la più grande città dell’Est Africa, con più di 3 milioni di abitanti. è una città che contrappone un moderno centro business e una periferia ancora complicata e lontana da ogni svilppo sociale ed economico. Nel pomeriggio un giretto al Masai Market dove si possono fare acquisti di artigianato africano: splendidi batik, oggetti in pietra saponaria, oggetti in legno etc… La tradidione vuole che i prezzi vengano trattati. Visita presso le baraccopoli per vedere come vivono le persone meno fortunate e anche presso una scuola locale nello slum (località Huruma). Rientro per cena e pernottamento presso l’hotel prescelto.
Giorno 2
Nairobi / Samburu
Sveglia alle prime luci dell’alba, prima colazione e partenza per la Riserva Samburu. La Riserva semi-arida con le sue foreste gigantesche di acacie lungo il fiume Ewaso Nyiro. Pranzo in un ristorante a metà strada. Fotosafari lungo il percorso verso l’area campeggio dove si dormirà in vere tende da campeggio a totale contatto con la natura. Cena e pernottamento.
Giorno 3
Samburu
Dopo colazione si dedica tutto il giorno al fotosafari nella Riserva Nazionale di Samburu situata in una zona semi-arida nelle regioni centrali del Kenya a nord del fiume Ewaso Nyiro. Qui si possono vedere elefanti, bufali, zebre di Grant, numerose specie di gazzelle, impala, antilopi d’acqua, orici, ghepardi, leopardi, leoni, coccodrilli, ippopotami e una grande quantità di specie di uccelli. In particolare qui potremo vedere animali esclusivi di questa zona: l’antilope giraffa o Geranuk, la zebra di Grevy, la giraffa reticolata, lo struzzo somalo ecc. Una breve visita ad un villagio locale Samburu prima del rientro per cena e pernottamento presso l’area campeggio.
Giorno 4
Samburu / Lago Nakuru
Prima colazione e partenza per il Lago Nakuru, considerato la casa dei fenicotteri. Sosta a Nyahururu, uno degli ultimi insediamenti europei dell’epoca coloniale e anche una delle città più alte del Kenya (circa 2360 m). Una breve visita alle cascate di Thomson che si trovano a pochi km dalla città dove si può vedere l’acqua del fiume che precipita per oltre 70 metri e crea una suggestiva nebbia che avvolge il paesaggio forestale. Pranzo in un ristorante in città prima di proseguire per il lago Nakuru ed è subito fotosafari per ammirare i numerosi fenicotteri rosa, rinoceronti neri e bianchi, i numerosi animali amanti dell’acqua. Lo spettacolo finale al belvedere “Out of Africa”, un posto unico per la sua posizione per immortalare spettacolari tramonti prima del rientro per cena e pernottamento presso l’hotel prescelto in città.
Giorno 5
Lago Nakuru / Riserva Masai Mara
Sveglia alle prime luci dell’alba, mattinata dedicata al fotosafari presso il Lago Nakuru prima di dirigersi verso la Riserva Masai Mara con pranzo a sacco. L’arrivo è previsto nel tardo pomeriggio ed è subito fotosafari verso l’area di campeggio per cena e pernottamento.
Giorno 6
Riserva Masai Mara
Dopo la prima colazione, si dedica tutto il giorno al fotosafari in questo parco meraviglioso con le caratteristiche ideali per ospitare una grande varietà di animali e una ricca vegetazione. Il territorio con la più ricca concentrazione di fauna selvatica: oltre ai “Big Five” (leoni, elefanti, leopardi, rinoceronti e bufali), si possono trovare in grandi quantità zebre, antilopi, ippopotami, coccodrilli e tanti altri animali. Ci sono diverse varietà di uccelli tra cui avvoltoi, struzzi, aquile di mare dalla testa bianca, buzzard crestato del miele, falchi pigmei, uccelli segretario, turaco, marabù dalle ali rosse, guinea diffidente e tanti altri. Il Parco ha la più grande concentrazione di leoni africani, tra cui i leoni dalla criniera nera. Pranzo a sacco per dedicare più tempo al fotosafari oppure pranzo al campo tendato. Fotosafari fino al tramonto e rientro per cena e pernottamento. Avremo la possibilità verso sera di visitare un villaggio Masai per vedere come vivono i guerrieri. (Qui è possibile fare un Balloon Tour: un’esperienza unica al Masai Mara).
Giorno 7
Riserva Masai Mara / Lago Naivasha
Dopo la prima colazione, fotosafari verso il Lago Naivasha. Visita presso l’Hell’s Gate National Park (detta anche porta dell’inferno). Un parco interessante anche perché è uno degli unici parchi in Kenya che si può percorrere a piedi o in mountain bike. Qui proveremo l’emozione di un safari a piedi e in bici. Nel pomeriggio giro in barca con fondo di vetro nel Lago Naivasha per ammirare i suoi numerosi ippopotami. Cena e pernottamento presso un’area campeggio.
Giorno 8
Lago Naivasha / Amboseli
Prima colazione, fotosafari durante il percorso verso il Parco Amboseli con arrivo previsto per l’ora di pranzo presso Muteleu Masai Village: una struttura tipicamente Masai, ma dotata dei minini comfort necessari, al confine con il parco Amboseli. Sistemazione, pranzo e relax. Il pomeriggio è dedicato al fotosafari nella pianura dell’Amboseli fino a tramonto. Rientro per cena. Dopo cena si assiste ad un ballo locale Masai e all’ascolto di una suggestiva storia sulla vita pastorale della tribù, raccontata intorno al fuoco. Pernottamento.
Giorno 9
Amboseli / Tsavo Ovest
Prima colazione all’alba e partenza per un fotosafari nel parco Amboseli per ammirare il risveglio del Monte Kilimanjaro. Nella tarda mattinata, si parte per il parco Nazionale Tsavo Ovest. Una volta arrivati, subito fotosafari. Sosta nella zona delle cascate Lugard per pranzo a sacco. Nel pomeriggio fotosafari per ammirare i vari paesaggi del Parco: Yatta Plateau, le Dighe di Aruba prima del rientro per cena e pernottamento presso le Bandas (ex strutture dei Rangers ora utilizzate per l’accoglienza turistica).
Giorno 10
Tsavo Ovest / Malindi
Sveglia alle prime luce dell’alba, il tempo migliore per ammirare i grandi predatori ancora attivi. Il Parco Tsavo Ovest è un’estensione dello Tsavo Est e offre una varietà infinita di animali. Fotosafari fino all’ora di pranzo prima di dirigersi verso Malindi attraversando piantagioni di palme e manghi. L’arrivo è previsto nella tarda serata presso il Tishi’s Village : un vero e proprio agriturismo africano, dove si coniuga il rispetto delle tradizioni con il comfort degli alloggi tipici, costruiti con le tecniche e i materiali locali (terra cruda, pietra galana, pietra jacaranda, legno, canapa di cocco). Cena e pernottamento.
Giorno 11, 12 & 13
Malindi
Tre intere giornate dedicate al relax: escursioni varie, shopping, safari blu, visite ai villaggi locali, tutte attività svolte nei dintorni di questa piccola cittadina affacciata sull’Oceano Indiano, definita come la Saint Tropez d’Africa.
Giorno 14
Malindi / Mombasa
Dopo la prima colazione trasferimento alla città di Mombasa. Da qui la destinazione è Nairobi per il volo di rientro. Ci si può arrivare con un volo o con il treno (quest’ultima è sicuramente un’esperienza più caratteristica).

Se dopo il safari proseguirai il soggiorno mare, ti consigliamo di fare due valigie: una borsa morbida per il safari (circa 15 kg al massimo) e la valigia con gli abiti mare che lascerai, all’arrivo all’aeroporto, al nostro staff che si occuperà di fartela trovare nel villaggio/hotel al rientro dal safari.
